Destiny Dardar and being Vegan

Hello all, It’s your girl Destiny Dardar and if you know me I have going back and forth with this “VEGAN” thing for a while.  I do believe it is a healthier lifestyle but gosh darn it – It’s difficult to give up all animal products but everyday there is something else supporting the benefits of a Vegan lifestyle.  The latest is research of vegan diets and breast cancer.

Methionine is an amino acid that is abundant in meat and fish but extremely low in fruits and vegetables.  Researchers have found that diets low in methionine (basically low in meat and fish) can cause particularly aggressive cancer cells to become more responsive to conventional treatment.

Triple Negative Breast Cancer cells lack the vegan-certified-bigthree receptors that are most often times targeted by conventional chemotherapy.  As a result of this treatment options for triple negative breast cancer are severely limited.

This study showed that when deprived of methionine (no meat/fish diets)  triple negative breast cancer cells where much more susceptible to cancer therapy.
